We should be doing everything we can to develop geo-thermal free energy technologies. Though largely untapped, this form of energy has immense potential and it is created from the earth itself. Enormous amounts of energy lie under the upper crust of the earth, on which we lie, and all that is necessary is to tap the source and take control over it.
The temperature at the hub of the earth is sixty times more than the temperature at which water boils and this tremendous heat develop pressure, which exist only a few miles below the surface. This enormous heat is a store of massive energy and result in super hot fluids called magma, which we can see whenever a volcano erupts. These fluids also come up to the surface of the earth as steam and erupt from vents.
We can produce our own vents, and we can create out own containment chambers for the magma and convert all of this free energy into electricity to light and heat our homes. In the creation of a geothermal energy plant, a well would be dug where there is a good source of magma or super hot fluid, then piping would be fitted down into the source, and the fluids forced to the surface to produce the required steam. The steam would operate a turbine, which in turn would produce electrical energy.
Much denouncement of the process of tapping for geothermic free energy is forestalling any large-scale production. Critics say that study and research to find a resourceful location is too costly and takes up too much time. In addition, the set up cost of a geo-thermal plant is again cost-prohibitive and there is not guarantee that the venture would yield profits later.
